Bring a few different outfit options:
I can help you choose when you get to your session! A good variety is ex. a bra & pantie set, a one piece or corset set, a silk or lace robe. Dress to your comfort level and to your body type! Also, be sure to consider which colors look best with your skin tone. Bringing your partners shirts, hats, hoodies, etc. is also another option to consider. Good places to get outfits without breaking the bank are Amazon and Shein. Or you can always check out local shops.
Don't forget shoes!
Heels elongate and slim the legs and are a perfect touch to any look! Again, bring a variety of heels to your session and I can help you decide which will look the best!
Jewelry and accessories are great to add to any look:
Bring a few of your favorite jewelry pieces and I can help you pair them with your look when you get to your session. Your jewelry and accessories are the glue that ties your entire look together. Also, brides, feel free to bring your veil and garter as they're always a great addition to your look if you are doing a bridal boudoir session!
Don't forget to moisturize!
Either the morning of (or even right before you come) to give your skin a fresh and glowing look! Don't forget knees and elbows, that's where you can get the most dry looking.
Skip the fake tan:
Fake tanner tends to look orange in photos and if you’re applying it yourself it can look very streaky in photos. For any other type of session, this wouldn't be a huge problem, but for a boudoir session, you're showing a lot more skin and it's a lot more noticeable if you have fake tanner streaks! I think natural is always best in photographs when it comes to your skin!
Clean up the hair:
Make sure to trim or wax your brows. Also get your dead ends cleaned up or roots touched up. You want your hair looking on point. Shave your legs and armpits and if it's your style, clean up the bikini area! Don't wax anything the day of though! Shaving the day of is fine, but waxing will leave your skin angry and red. Make sure you shower and wash your hair the day of so it's not greasy as well, however make sure your hair is dry as well as the session won't wait for your hair to dry.
Paint your Nails & Toes!
Freshly painted nail polish always looks nicer in photos! Not really a nail polish person? A clear coat still makes your nails look fresh. If you want to go all out, treat yourself to a mani & pedi a day or two before your session!
Don't forget to take things off your wrists!
What girl doesn't always have a hair tie on their wrist, right? This happens all the time and with everything else running through my mind (trying to pick the perfect light, location and pose), I sometimes miss it until we're halfway through the shoot! Not only that but having a hair tie on your wrist can make indents on your arm that will last hours and show in photos and we don't want that! This also includes smart watches and anything else you don't want in the pictures!
Avoid wearing tight clothing before your session:
This leaves indents in the skin that will show in your photographs! Tight fitting clothing includes: skinny jeans, leggings, socks, cami/tank top, long sleeve shirt. ect. Skip wearing this the day of your session, and come to your session in a loose t-shirt or sweatshirt, baggy sweatpants, a flowy dress, and throw on some sandals, furry boots (without socks! They're usually the worst offender!), or even your slippers (I'm not judging!). If you're comfortable doing it, also avoid a bra and underwear incase your outfits don't cover those lines!
Bring extra makeup and hairspray:
This is always a good idea, in case we need to do any touch ups! Especially lipstick or lip gloss, which is the most likely to wear off. If your skin tends to be toward the oily side, bring oil blotting sheets, so you can freshen up during your session if you start to feel shiny!
Stay Hydrated!
Drink plenty of water the day before your session. This helps make your skin hydrated and glowing. Try to avoid any alcohol or excess salt the day before your session, as this can cause greasy looking skin and bloating.
Bring a friend and some champagne!
Feel free to bring a friend (for moral support) and some champagne (also, for moral support) with you and make a girls day out of it! Blast your favorite tunes, pop some bubbly and make some amazing memories with your bestie!
Stretch:
This may seem weird to hear, but do some stretches for the week leading up to your session. There may be some poses that your body isn't used to doing or holding for an extended period, so stretching leading up to the session date will help you not be so sore afterwards.
Most of all, have fun!
Don’t worry about a thing! Trust in your photographer! I will coach you through poses and photograph you from the most flattering angles. It’ll be a great time and I will make you look and feel fabulous, that’s our job!
** Please note, as we are not studio photographers, K & M Photography does not have a huge client closet with boudoir outfits to pick from like other studio photographers may have. You, as the client, are responsible for all outfits you wish to wear. We do however have some small props available, such as a black lace robe, men's white button up shirt, pearl strands, etc. that can be used to enhance the photos. **
